Finding the perfect rental can often be a stressful experience. Between the short time you have to inspect a new place, filling out the application, and the pressure of the other people doing the same thing, the key things you should be looking out for are often missed.
So, we have put together a check list of things to keep in mind next time you venture out to a house inspection.
1. Security
Inspect the locks, doors, windows, and the general neighbourhood area for the security and safety of the house/apartment.
2. Bring a tape measure
It is important when moving into a place that all your furniture will actually fit in.
3. Budget
Looking over your finances and setting yourself a budget will ensure you don’t end up signing a contract that will leave you scraping the bank account each week.
4. Parking
Especially if there is more than one of you with a car a moving in, make sure you look at the parking situation of the place. You don’t want to be risking parking fines every day or walking a mile to your car in the dark.
5. Bring all necessary documents
If you decide you are happy with the rental and wish to apply it is a good idea to have all your information with you so you can start the process straight away. Printing out the application and identifying what documents you will need prior to the inspection will keep you one step ahead of the others.
We hope this check list will help you when securing your next rental, it’s the leased we can do!
